The technique used for these shots was panning. The idea is to follow the car with the lens as it goes past while using a relatively slow shutter speed. If done correctly, the car itself will be clear and sharp while the background is blurred by the motion of the camera. The lens used in all of the "in motion" shots was a Tamron SP Adaptall 180mm f2.5 with manual focus and manual metering.
